Figs by Todd English

Forgive me for being absent last week! Hubs and I did our 2nd round of IVF so that was our focus all week (obviously 😉 ). Anyhow, I’m on bed rest for a couple of days so I thought I’d give you a little review of a restaurant I ate a a couple of weeks ago! I had a little mother-daughter date with my friend Jess & both of our moms! So let me preface this with the fact that we had a voucher that we had to reach a certain $ amount for so we ate… and ate… and ATE. We ordered a BUNCH of dishes and shared them all so we got a tasting of everything!

Okay so let’s get to it:

The Restaurant?

Figs by Todd English

Location: Macy’s @ the PGA Mall

3107 PGA Boulevard

Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410

Phone: 561-775-2385

Note: there are also locations in Charlestown, Boston, and Nantucket

If you know anything about Todd English, he is an incredibly well-known chef with successful restaurants all over the United States! Figs is a franchise of his that follows his concept of FRESH foods. Everything is made to order and they never keep ingredients in the restaurant longer than 3 days! The manager even told me that their soups are made to order as well! No nasty big vats of soup in the back that have been sitting there since the morning! Talk about FRESH! I can get down with that!

Anyhow, when you are seated they immediately serve you some delicious fresh-made focaccia bread with olive oil and kalamata olives (my fave!) - shame on me I forgot to snap a photo of that! We wolfed that down much too quickly. SORRY, but I’m not sorry! 😉 We told the manager our plans of ordering a tasting of everything to split and he highly recommended we try the Asparagus Frites as an hors devour… UM. YES.

Those babies were crisp, delicious, and served over a simple arugula salad with the most divine honey mustard aioli (think sweet, tangy, and garlicky perfection!). It was my favorite thing I ate at Figs (expect a re-creation of that one!)!

Next up: their Crispy Eggplant Stack

This is what happens when Caprese Salad meets Eggplant Parmesan… & it was delicious!

Then it was time to taste the Blanco Flatbread Pizza:

Arugula, fresh tomato, fresh mozzarella, sweet onion, balsamic vinegar & extra virgin olive oil - Sounds incredibly simple, but because they used such quality ingredients, it was absolutely FANTASTIC. In fact - this ended up tying for favorite dish (along with the asparagus frites).

On to the mains, starting with the Chicken Pappardelle Pasta: fresh pasta with shiitake mushrooms, pulled chicken and roasted peppers and a light parmesan cream sauce.

Who doesn’t love a creamy mushroom sauce? Please, don’t burst my bubble if you’re one of those weirdos! hehe 😉

Okay, so at this point I was thinking “Roll me outta here”, however we had  a few more things to try!

The next dish was the BLT Jamburger: prime beef burger with tomato jam, bacon, blue jack cheese and butter lettuce on a pretzel roll with seasoned fries.

Figs by Todd English

Amazing! Oh, and I can’t forget they brought us out their signature truffle aioli for the fries - HOLY MOLY. I could drink that stuff. Make sure you order yourself a side of that goodness!

You’re Welcome.

We also tried the grilled fish sandwich (not pictured) which wasn’t our favorite. It wasn’t bad… it’s just that the other dishes were SO good. I’m a total fish snob having grown up in south Florida catching my own fish, so a fish sandwich has to be OUT OF BOUNDS for me to love it. However it was served with some more fries that we happily dunked in the addicting truffle aioli I mentioned previously.

Okay, Okay, we can’t forget about dessert:

Rich Chocolate Mousse with raspberry puree and a light vanilla bean whipped cream - my favorite! (Hello- I’m a chocolate girl!)

Figs by Todd English

And their signature dessert, warm White Chocolate Challah Bread Pudding with an amazing warm caramel sauce and the vanilla bean whipped cream - equally delicious!

Overall Thoughts

  • Pricing: VERY reasonable
  • Favorite Dish(es): The Asparagus Frites & the Blanco Flatbread Pizza
  • Insider Tip: the manager told me they offer a 1/2 off wine special every Wednesday - “WINE down Wednesdays”! LOVE. IT.
  • Would I eat here again? ABSOLUTELY.

DISCLOSURE: I was NOT compensated in any way shape or form for this review. These opinions are my own. ALSO - forgive the photos as they were all snapped with my iPhone! 😉

    That burger!
Tomato Jam — the next “it” condiment, and so worth it. I may grow my own tomatoes just to try canning my own this summer.

A trip that involves good food — what a lovely way to make a memory 🙂

Hey Tina! Love your blog! We got pregnant on our third ivf cycle, our twins, boy/girl are now 8 years old. We had four embryos left, three thawed and we had another baby boy, Sweet Shane. He passed away from SIDS at eight weeks old. We were out of embryos and money, but by some miracle got pregnant the old fashioned way. Camden was born 15 months after Shane died. Then by the grace of God, we got pregnant again, one crazy night, I will spare you details:-) Morgan, sweet little baby girl, blessed us nine months later. So my point is, from infertility to five babies. Don’t give up darlin’:-)
